USCIS Proposes Fee Increases!

USCIS has announced its intention to again increase its fees for petitions and applications, as well as for biometrics.  The organization receives 90% of its funding from these fees.  There is currently a comment period open on the suggested increases.  Below are the current and proposed increases:

Department of State New Consular Fees Start June 4, 2010
The Department of State's published its Interim Final Rule May 20, 2010, advising that it will begin to collect increased consular fees on June 4, 2010. No other changes have been made to the fee schedule published last December. The new schedule includes the following increased visa application fees:
  1. Most NIVs and adult BCCs:    $140
  2. Petition-based NIVs (H,L,O,P,Q,R):   $150
  3. K category:   $350
  4. E category:   $390

Regarding pending visa applications, the fee in force on the date of the interview is the fee which must be paid by the applicant. Soon many consular posts will publish their respective procedures regarding the payment of supplemental fees in cases for which interviews have been scheduled on or after June 4, 2010.
