Getting Your Case Ready

Before your initial consultation, you should be prepared with not only your questions and goals, but also with supporting documents and evidence appropriate to your case.  In fact, it is a good idea for you to maintain a folder with originals and/or copies of the following important documents:

  • Passport(s): both current and expired, it is particularly important to keep your I-94 card and copies of your identification and visa pages, as well as any pages with entry & exit stamps, regardless of country
  • Birth, adoption and/or baptismal certificates for yourself and/or your spouse & children
  • Marriage, divorce, dissolution and/or annulment certificates
  • Current state driver's license or photo ID
  • Naturalization certificate
  • Permanent resident card
  • Employment Authorization Document (EAD) (work permit)
  • Federal income tax returns & W-2s
  • Proof of continuous physical presence in the U.S. since entry
  • Current passport-style photos
